Diagnostic Criteria for Antisocial Personality Disorder according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual V
A. Pattern of disregard and violation of the rights of other people, occurring from the age of 15 years, three (or more) of the following should be there:
1. Failure to conform to societal norms with respect, as indicated by repeatedly indulging in punishable offences
2. Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure.
3. Impulsivity and failure to plan ahead of time.
4. Irritability and aggressiveness, physical assaults and fights
5. Reckless and total disregard for the safety and wellbeing of themselves or other people.
6. Consistent irresponsibility depicted in their behavior
7. Lack of remorse, indifference to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another.
B. The individual is at least of the age of 18 years old.
C. There is evidence of conduct disorder with onset before age 15 years.
D. The occurrence of antisocial behavior is not exclusively during the course of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
People who are rude and mean in nature behave rudely with others because they are agitated of others and irritated due to some other reason and vent out their frustration on others around them while Antisocial personality disorder is a serious condition and it needs to be diagnosed and given proper attention and treatment
