Electronic commerce eliminates more jobs than it creates. Should we restrict its use and growth?
E-Commerce or electronic commerce has brought with itself a revolution in the marketplace. With technological innovation, the way of business has also changed rapidly from brick and motor model to online market place.
This new marketplace has definitely affected the employment. Some jobs have become redundant and thus has eliminated jobs. But, it has also brought with itself new set of job with requirement of different abilities.
Even if the net effect of job creation and elimination is negative, still we cannot and must not restrict the use or growth of e-commerce. With expansion in its network it will generate more jobs and of varied abilities.
For an economy to grow, its market must also grow which is being done with the help of e-commerce. Technological advancements will help the economy improve and by deliberately hampering the growth of e-commerce, we will hamper the economic growth as well. What is required in this case is to equip humans capital with improved skills to be able to capture jobs relevant and related to e-commerce.
