A production facility has a constant flow of truck drivers that pickup products to deliver to customers. Recently, they have installed a new automatic gate system. Occasionally, truck drivers have issues either entering or exiting the facility using the automatic gate system. Over the course of one week, the production facility randomly selected 8 truck drivers. The random sample showed an average of 4.5 (with a standard deviation of 3.3) issues with entry into the facility and an average of 6.6 (with a standard deviation of 2.0) issues with exit from the facility. The production facility would like to know if the new automatic gate system has more issues with exiting the facility than entering it. What test should be used?

Two sample test of means with unknown variance (standard deviation) but assumed equal

Two sample test of means with unknown variance (standard deviation) but assumed unequal

Two sample test of means with known variance (standard deviation)

Two sample test of paired means with unknown variance (standard deviation)

To save fuel, some truck drivers try to maintain a constant speed when possible. A truck traveling at 29.0 km/hr approaches a car stopped at the red light. When the truck is 191.2 meters from the car the light turns green and the car immediately begins to accelerate at 2.3 m/s2. A 1196-kg car and a 2010-kg pickup truck approach a curve on the expressway that has a radius of 253 m . At what angle should the highway engineer bank this curve so that vehicles traveling at 60.0 mi/h can safely round it regardless of the condition of their tires? Should the heavy truck go slower than the lighter car? As the car and truck round the curve at 60.0 mi/h , find the normal force on the car to...

Maintenance of Production Facility A production facility has several 3-D printing machines which need maintenance for two reasons. Maintenance type A: a sensor may have detected a fault, e.g. an oil leak. Maintenance type B: the quality of the printed product is unacceptable. Each maintenance requirement occurs at random and independently of other requirements for maintenance, with characteristics summarized in the following table: Maintenance Type Average rate of occurrence per week totalled over all 3-D printing machines in the production...

A facility that manufactures fireworks has a large increase in production every June, such that their peak electrical demand is 101, while in every other month of the year their peak electrical demand of 50. The local utility informs the client that they will be changing the rate structure. The demand charges will decrease from $7.54/kW to $5.37/kW. But the utility will start imposing a ratchet clause at 80% of peak demand. What will be the expected change in annual...

A firm has the following production function: Q = K0.8L0.1 Show if this is a constant, decreasing, or increasing returns to scale production function? Explain. Find the marginal rate of technical substitution (MRTS) and discuss how MRTS changes as the firm uses more L, holding output constant. Suppose that the wage rate is $10 per hour and the rental rate of capital is $10 per hour. If the firm wants to produce 500 units of output, what is the cost-minimizing...
