Discuss different types of CE (Capillary Electrophoresis) and the advantages that each offer [which are Capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE), Capillary iotachophoresis (CITP), Capillary electrochromatography (CEC) ]

Solutions

Expert Solution

CZE : it is an analytical technique that separates the ion in to their electrophoretic mobility with the help of applied voltage. The electrophoretic mobility dependent on the charge ot the molecule, atom's radius and viscosity.

Advantages of CZE : 1) DNA fingerprinting

2) Drug analysis

3) Characterization of DNA

CITP : It is a technique in analytical chemistry used for separation and concentration of ionic analytes. Here the sample injections are preceded by high mobillity and low mobility ions.

Advantages of CITP: For the determination of inorganic ions in food and feed samples.

CEC: It is a chromatographic technique. The separation is a packed column. The mobile phase is liquid it passes through the silica wall and particles. And also electroosmosis flow occurs because of the chrages on the stationary phase.

CEC is of 2 analytical techniques. that is high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) and capillary electrophoresis (CE).

CE separates the analytes on the basis of their mass-to-charge ratio by high voltage. HPLC separates the analytes by passing high pressure through column filled with stationary phase.

CEC is similar to CZE becuase both have a plug-type flow.

Advantages of CEC :For the analysis of acidic , basic and neutral compounds of biomolecules. enviormental substance, pharmaceuticeles and natural products.
