On 2^nd of April 2017, thousands of teachers went in to strike in Oklahoma and Kentucky. The protest that was mainly gathering the momentum on the Social Media platforms like Facebook, finally hit the road. The teachers were protesting the cut in pay, benefits and school funding. The teachers were asking for a pay raise of $10,000 per annum and additional funding for schools. Almost 200 of the 500 schools were closed as teachers were on strike. The teachers claimed to have support from parents and society. Younger teachers are the main activists who are already against government due to anti-gun protest.

The strike was successful as it caught the eyes of the lawmakers. Also, the movement is getting spread in other states like Arizona, where teachers are protesting for similar demand. The strike has got connected to the society as claimed by few teachers and parents are also in support of the teachers. The social media is coming up in huge support for the teachers.
