Yes i do belive that Chiquita would have changed its policies without the presence of damaging stories in the media as it changes the name of the company from united fruit to Chiquita. this reflect the short term orientation and focus on immediate bottom line results by the old management style. As also on the other hand dealing with the root causes of the problem and proactively turning them into opportunities for a differentiation competative advantage seems to be more effective approach that chiquita has adopted under its new leadership ----------
1. Banned pesticides used on chiquita subsidiaries in central america.
2. Toxic chemical released in their firms.
3. Fined 25 million dollar.
Following are the challenges does chiquita new ownership face in continuing to turn the company around and bring profitability back to its operation--------------
1. financial stability, cutting costs, differentiation and value added costs, streamlining local and global operations, moved headquarters and cut research and development budget work cited, implemented the social accountability 8000.
