Where would there be an application of the Is – Is Not tool in the healthcare information technology environment? Link the answer back to defining quality and post-market surveillance.
Is-Is not tool is an analytical process to determine a problem and its cause. The way this tool works is to chalk out mainly two columns across several rows. The columns distinguish between what the problem is and what the problem might be but is not. These are cross referenced against several other factors that eventually reveals the root cause and helps managers make decision.
One key place where this analytical tool can be used is with medical equipment. In case there is a defect or quality related issue with medical equipment then the manufacturing company could use Is-Is not tool to identify and fix the issue. One common way of doing it would be using the five W and one H method against Is-Is not. Creating a table and answering them will help the company identify what exactly happened and what should be the next step to correct it.
A table could contain the following questions to be answered to determine the problem with medical equipment. This will help perform post market surveillance on quality of the equipment.
