Pleases Discuss the differences and similarities between the presidential and parliamentary systems, including the executive and legislative branches. Which system do you feel serves its citizen better? Why? Use Evidence.
The general similarities are that both are fundamentally government-type forms of Liberal Democracy.
Such things they all have in common:
3 Governing branches: Judiciary, Executive and Legislative.
However, how they get filled up and how they communicate
varies.
The citizenry elects the Legislative Branch.
The Executive branch consists of agencies or ministries charged
directly with the enforcement of the laws as passed by the
Legislature.
The Executive is empowered with immediate responsibility for
defence and foreign policy.
The judiciary has the final say that all laws are ultimately
legal.
The Legislative Branch has the right to legislate
The party with the most seats is required to join the government in the parliamentary structure. The president forms the government in the presidential system irrespective of how many seats his party holds in the House or Senate.
Parliamentary system has a Prime Minister (the party leader with the most seats), presidential systems naturally have a President. A vote of non-confidence in the House in the Parliament system can cause the government to fall and a new one is usually selected after an election. The Government has to present the House with new bills for review and approval.
In a Presidential system there is no such thing as a vote of no confidence. In a Presidential system , the President may refuse to sign a bill (Veto), but Congress may override it. Parliamentary system has no veto.
