RFID is the acronym for Radio Frequency Identification. The data
received through the antenna is recorded with a tag. The reader
these data and performs actions as needed.
So let's take a look at some of the common areas of application
of RFID:
- Asset management: Basically locating the assets of a firm. It's
far more convenient than manual tracking and firms are increasingly
moving towards RFID driven tracking. The tags on the assets helps
us to track them in real time with extreme accuracy
- Logistics: By tagging goods and containers, one can pretty
easily know where these are and how much space they occupy in the
godown. Kinda similar to the previous point, except that this is
more inclined towards the logistical management part rather than
the assets.
- In animal farms: Nowadays RFID tagging are used to keep track
of animals as well. Apart from that, the tag acts as a database to
store intel regarding the biological details of the animal,
including dates of visits made by veterinarians to keep a track on
the health as well. The farmer need not memorize or note down any
of these data as its very easily accessible
Hope this helps. Do hit the thumbs up. Cheers!
