True or False
Heat Travels slower in air than in liquids or solids.
Heat travels inside the solid by the method of "Conduction".In this method atoms of solid near the heat source receives heat energy and acquired higher kinetic energy. Now they give some part of their kinetic energy to their nearby atoms which have relatively low kinetic energy. This process goes on and the heat transferred thorougout the solid.
While Heat transfer in the liquid and gas is mostly done by convection process in this process the molecules of gas or liquid situated near the heat source receives heat from the sourve due to which their temperature increases also that portion of liquid or gas expands and become lighter and rises upward. To fill their place comparatively high density and low temperature of fluid takes their place. This process goes on and after some time whole gas or liquid acquired same temperature.
As we see that in conduction heat is trasferred from atom to atom so this process is slower. In the convection bulk amount of molecules receives heat and move to low temperature region so this process is faster.Gas molecules can move much faster than water molecules so we can say that heat transfer procesa is faster in gas compared to solid and liquid.
So given statement is false.
