what are the more “dangerous forms” of crime?
Are the crimes committed by strangers? Or are they crimes committed by acquaintances/groups of people that know (or may intimately know) their victims? Explain your reasoning.”
The crimes committed by acquaintances or groups of people that we know are relatively more dangerous than others. This is because our friends and acquaintances can know a lot about us if they want to. Someone might not even notice it when a acquaintance is taking note of each and every action of theirs. This can facilitate them to organize the crime in an efficient manner. Also, it is proven that a significant amount of crime comes from acquaintances, friends or family. Which can also be because of personal grudges over issues, which can also make the crime more violent than it normally is.
Most academic work revolves around the fears of victimization of strangers but most police reports show that in case of violent crimes, a majority of the victims knew the perpetrators. This is especially true for women, which are more likely than men to face victimization from the men they know when compared to absolute strangers. This, however, also varies widely with the class dynamics of the perpetrators.
