Yes, facebook has been unethical to users. Sharing of personal
information is like sharing away your personal belongings, it is a
theft.
- If someone knows I want to shop say item X, they will provide
that to me at a lucrative time and paybe if I need it urgently
might even sell me for a low quality and higher cost
- Similar cases come up while travelling, for admission in
colleges and what not, almost every single thing is covered
here
From elections, to Bschool ratings, to jobs etc EVERYTHING
Approaches to safeguard online privacy
- Facebook should sign an agreement with all it's members
comapnies/suppliers present at facebook, and mention a legal term
about sharing data and the action that would be taken if found
guilty
- A regular survelience team to see if data is not being stolen,
no fake news and no views being morphed
- People should make its users aware about how to keep data
secure and how to keep information safe/ what to be avoided
It is never acceptable for a company to release it's user's
information since it is unethical and it's lke a theft of one's
belongings. Data can only be shared in with accceptance of the
user. eg for social cause, in case we need a specific blood group
etc.
