Studies shows that Masters and Johnson's four phase model of sexual response listed above 10,000 cycles of sexual arousal and orgasm in a period of twelve years to arrive at a conclusion about a model of sexual response. In this model, there are four successive phases to the sexual response cycle.

Based on your understanding about this model, compare the phases of this model to the following:

Kaplan's triphasic model of sexual response

Loulan's sexual response model

Why was Masters and Johnson's four phase model so controversial? Johnson argued that sexual problems are not the result of underlying neurosis or personality disorders, but are an outcome of lack of information, poor communication, or conflict between partners. Do you agree or disagree and why?

Which model, according to you, is the most accurate model that describes the human sexual response? Why?

Solutions

Expert Solution

step -1

controversial mode

william masters who is american gynoclogist and his research associate jhonson conducted a Observational research into the anatomical and physiological process of human sextual intercourse and sextual response. The four phase's model is controversial because their technique of research was fault, using local prostitute as participant and another perticipate recurite in clenical setting where research become more formal and structured. Therefore they was not able to elucit genuine responce due to lack of voluntary people participation.intially study was began through hetrosextual people who are married but later it turned into collect data from homosexual people.so masters misinterpreted and falsified the data.so it is clear to conversial due to use modern standard, using prostitute, sex surrogate, randomly assigned sex partner etc.

Step-2

i am agree with johnson argument .proper intimacy, and love is the best indicator of good sextual life .the sextual problem major causes occured when partner have several kind mental conflict , not having strength bonding , lack of attraction and there is poor interaction between partner.sex does not mean to get biological or physical statisfaction but it gives good mental peace, make happy of the couple internally .so neurosis or personality ddisorder is not much important as compare a good relationship between partner for being good sextual life.

step-3

Still having lots of controversial in masters and johnson's model but this four phase model is accurate to get desirable human sextual responce as compare other model .Because this model helps to understand substantially develoment of anatomy in better way. They were focused on physical structure of women anatomy and majorly give attention on physiological process that is going on during intercourse and at the time of organism.they would observe heart rate and lubrication in dialation of sex.so their study majorly focus on whole anatomical and physiological process during intercourse rather than behavioural aspect .so it is very technical and play significant role to understand the human sextual responce .
