A spherical balloon 6m diameter is filled with gas weighing 5.50N/m^3, what is the maximum load, including its own weight that the balloon can lift?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans: Given that , d= 6m , density = 0.561 kg/m³ and density of air = 1.225 kg/m³

                  Volume = (4/3)*π*r³

                                  = (4/3)*3.14*(3)³ = 113.04 m³

Weight of balloon = volume x density

                                   = 113.04*0.561 = 63.42 kg

Mass of displaced air = 113.04*1.225 = 138.474 kg

Weight of displaced air = 138.272 * 9.81 = 1358.43 N

Maximum load the balloon can carry = 1358.43/9.81 = 138.474kg + self weight

                                                                                               = 138.474+63.42 = 201.894 kg
