Three residential options for older adults are:

  • Active adult communities: these are forms of neighbourhoods that are made for the older adults. These may be in the form of townhouses or ousts. There may be inclusion of apartments of mobile no,ds. In such homes residents are completely independent and have the ability of manage themselves and their homes.
  • Independent living communities: these are also referred to as retirement homes or communities. In these communities, the older adults would be renting or buying their home units. There may be inclusion of meals in the retirement homes along with availability of laundry, housekeeping as well as transportation.
  • Assisted living residences: these residences offer services of personal care to the residents and are similar in working to the independent living communities. There may be services for bathing of medicine taking or getting dressed.
