Name any FOUR factors that influence the slope of a statically determinate beam. Mention how they affect the slope of beams.
Four factors that influence the slope of a determinate beam are as follows :-
1. Load acting on the beam - slope is directly proportional to load. keeping other factors constant if load increases then slope also increases as rotation will be more due to more bending moment as load is increasing.
2. Span of the beam - Slope also depends on the span directly with varying powers depending on the type of load acting. So if span increases keeping other factors constant then also slope increases as it will also rotate more.
3. Modulus of elasticity of the beam material - Slope is inversely related to modulus of elasticity so more is the E value stiffer is the beam so less will be rotation and slope will be less and vice versa.
4. Cross sectional properties - Cross sectional properties like beam width and depth determines moment of inertia of the beam section .If these dimensions are more then moment of inertia will be more so rigidity of the beam will be more which prevents rotation so slope value will be less as slope is inversely related to moment of inertia i.e I and slope will be more if moment of inertia is less.
