Three different anchor bolts were installed in a 12" -2500 PSI concrete strength slab. The bolts were all 1/2 diameter with 6" embedment depth. The types were mechanical, epoxy, and cast in place during original pour.

which anchor bolt would you predict would take the greatest force to pull out from the slab and why

Expert Solution

I discussed the anchoring cases in points and why it is used. After that there is a conclusion explaining why this particular anchoring method is hardest to pull out for given specification of embedment depth and slab length.

You can find it in following image:

Epoxy is the one, but cast in place is stronger but then cast in place is not used in smaller length (as 6" embedment depth). If it is used in given specification of slab then cast in place is the strongest to pull out because when concrete started setting it establish a much stronger bond with bolt embedded.
