  1. You are a project manager of a large project scheduled to last for 2 years. 6 teams are working on 5 functional areas. Some are ahead and some are behind schedule. Its 9 months into your project. The total budget is $4,200,000. You’ve spent $1,650,000 so far, and you’ve got a CPI of .875. Use the Earned Value Technique to figure out if the project is over or under budget.
  2. In continuation with question 1, Now its 6 months later(9+6 months into the project). You have spent 2,625,000. You have completed 70% of the project. You need to report to the management if you are now over or under budget.
  3. Give real life software project examples which are best suited to be developed in the following development methodologies. Also give reason behind your choice. (For example for facebook, agile will be a good choice)

    a) Waterfall

    b) Prototype

    c) V-Model

    d) Agile

(the reason for each choice should be at least 100 words)

Hi, I would love to answer this question, hope you will like an answer and get a clear idea related to the same. So not wasting much time lets get started towards the question

The question consists the three different parts which are needed to be explained briefly as mentioned in the question.

Part 1 - The project have the time period of two years and after the 9 months report the 1650000$ are been used and the CPI is .875 so as per this situation the project is slightly over budget so the project manager needs to use the assets in a useful manner now.

Part 2-  Now after the 15 moths the 70% project is been completed and the total expenses are 2,625,000$ , now if we calculate it accordingly then the project is in the good condition and the project is under budget and project manager has used the assets wisely for the profit of the company.

Part 3- For this type of large projects the Prototype Model is been preferred and is the best possible so as maintaining the quality and the efficiency of the project. But we need to somehow understand the prototype model in the brief manner. Inside the prototype model the full requirements and information related to the project is gathered, after this the prototype(sample) is created of the project step by step and that sample is discussed and provided to the customer for the feedback and the improvements required so as fixing in the prototypes step by step and not messing up the project.

When the prototype reaches to its final stage and the feedbacks are implemented to fix the errors and the improvements required, the final project is completed and submitted to the customer. In this way the errors in the projects are minimal and the quality is according to the customer and hence a better project idea, while others models are used for small scale and other projects.

Hope you have got a clear idea related to the development.

Please give the thums up to an answer and do comment for any type of queries

Thanks and Happy to help :)
