Introduction:-

Climate change is one Global trend that is guaranteed to impact every person on the planet.While most analysis focus on how countries must handle new challenges as well as opportunities brought on by climate change.

This background on climate change in Singapore is but a miniscule exploration on the policy issues that will face countries all over the world as climate change impact infrastructure, agriculture and economic concerns throughout the world over.

Singapore's relationship with it's coastline:-

At risk with climate change.

(1) Land Reclamation - Goes under water.

(2) Areas like business District at Risk.

(3) Salt water into water Reservoir.

Shipping's role in the Singaporean Economy:-

"Singapore's strategic location at the entrance to the strait of Malacca, through which roughly one-third of global sea commerce passes each year , has helped it became one of the most important shipping countries in Asia".

(1) Second busiest port in the world after Shanghai.

(2) 14th largest exporter worldwide.

(3)15th largest importer worldwide.

Effects of climate change on Singaporean Economy:-

(1) Damage to property and infrastructure.

(2) Affect the coastline business like Hotel industry , port industry , beach industry , agriculture , fisheries , etc.

(3) Heavy financial cost on implementing policies for safeguarding climate .

(4) Changing global sea transporting pattern from starit of Malacca to Northern sea route (NSR) affect Singaporean Economy a lot.

Recommendation to reduces climate changes:-

(1) Reduces the usage of Green house gases like CFC , methane ,etc.

(2) Depends more on renewable energy sources.

(3) Planting water absorbing plants on coastline .

(4) Restrictions on coastal areas development.

(5) Implementing Adaptation law.
