Investigation technique are tool by which requirements of project or stakeholders are collected during different phase of project life cycle. These are very important techniques to understand exactly the need of project and expectation of various stakeholders in a project. Broadly investigation techniques can fall in any of the below types :

  • Survey & Questionnaire : Survey can be useful to collect requirement of stakeholders when they are widely spread and it is challenging to bring them all at one common place.
  • Meeting & Brainstorming - This is most effective technique in which all stakeholders are bring into a meeting room and through brainstorming selection of project or requirement of project is collected
  • Observation : It is a technique in which requirement is collected while observing the situation and requirement is collected during observation. It is effective when stakeholders are unable to communicate the exact requirement due to complexity of processes.
