Multiple studies conducted in the United States, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom show that the probability of dying in the hospital is higher if you are admitted on the weekend. Why might this be? What factors might contribute to this probability? What could hospitals do to reduce/eliminate this phenomenon?
Answer :- The probability of dying patient in hospital higher in weekends becuase the patient who admitted in weekend are more likely to die or suffer other adverse outcome.
We see in weekends decrease of staffing or other resources has been long postulated, but I think it is real.
In weekends hospital physician are tired from work unable to concentrate on work or any other famil planning tour , holiday they don't able to focus on quality care of patients who critically ill.
It is a worst medical irror which invisible factors affecting the patient .
So here clear in weekends staffing variations may leads to increase in mortality rate of patients .
Note :- In centres where minimal staffing variations may be decrease the probablity of mortality in weekends.
