Compile a summary of at least 8 statistics for the data below. Be sure you include appropriate measures of central tenancy and dispersion etc. Write a brief paragraph describing the meaning of the statistics you chose. For example, if some of the statistics chosen were the mean, median, and mode, then briefly discuss the differences among the samples and the combined total as well as the different measures of central tendency.

Ways to travel to work (100 people surveyed)
Method Number
Public Transportation 46
Private Vehicle 44
Uber, Lyft 10
Total 100

Solutions

Expert Solution

1.Here the mode is Public Transportation. This means that approximately 42% of people use Public mode of transport. The difference between Public and Private transport is 4% while that with Uber, Lyft is 36%.

2.The median is the 50th value which is Private Vehicle. So approximately 50% of people stick to Private Vehicle and Uber, Lyft while the rest 50 avail public transport.

3. The Range is 46-10=36. So the difference between lowest and highest value is 36.

4. The mean value of the above data is (46+44+10)/3=33.33 This means Public and Private are close to the mean while Uber, Lyft are not.

5. The variance equals ((44-33.33)^2+(46-33.33)^2+(10-33.33)^2)/3=273 which means there exists significant dispersion among the three.

6.The standard deviation equals 273^0.5=16.5 which is also quite high which means there exists significant dispersion among the three.

7. The maximum value is for Public Transport while the minimum is for Uber, Lyft.

8.Coefficient of variation is sd/mean which equals 16.5/33 =0.5. This means dispersion around mean is around 50%.

Results. Include at least one graph and a summary table or graph. You may need more than one. Any table or graph should have a descriptive title. Make sure you submit a summary table, not a restatement of raw data. I smile when I see calculated measures of central tendency (mean and median) and some measure of spread. Excel can do most of those calculations for you. Your graph should show blood pressure class averages for each body position. You...
