1.(1.5 pts) What three principles came out of Gregor Mendel’s work?
2.(1 pt) Thomas Hunt Morgan discovered the concept of ________________ inheritance during his studies with fruit flies.
3.(1 pt) The genetic make-up of an individual constitutes their__________________.
4.(1 pt) The physical appearance of an individual constitutes their__________________.
5.(1 pt) Variants of a particular gene are called___________________.
6.(1 pt) If an individual has two copies of the same allele, they are _____________ for that gene, if they have two different alleles, they are ___________ for that gene.
7.(0.5 pt) If only one copy of a dominant allele is present, it will be phenotypically expressed: True or False
8. (0.5 pt) Traits can be both physical and behavioral: True or False
9. (0.5 pt) Independent assortment addresses the segregation of alleles found on _________ chromosome(s).
The same or Different
10.(1 pt) What is the name of the statistical test we will carry out to determine if the results of each cross studied is equivalent to the predicted values or statistically different?
1) Three principle are : 1) Law of dominance : When two pure plants were crossed then the trait which appears in F1 generation is called dominant trait and which remain hidden is recessive trait.
2) Law of segregation: It states that each individual possess two factor for a particular character. At the time of gamete formation each member of the pair of gene separates from each other so that each gamete carriea only one factor i.e gametea are always pure.
3) Law of independent assortment: It was applied to dihybrid cross. It states that assortment of genes of one pair is independent of the outer pair at the time of gametogenesis i.e.pair of contrasting character behaves independently and bears no association with a particular character.Because of such an independent assortment of characters new combinations of characters are produced in the offsprings.
2) gender limited inheritance: It includes the trait which are affected by male or female hormone and is limited to a particular trait .For example : beard growth is limited to males.
3) genotype: It is the genetic consitution of an individual for any particular trait.
4) Phenotype. It is the external appearance of an individual. It depends on genetic conatitution.
5) Allel
6) Homozygous for example TT (homozygous tall).heterozygous for example Tt (heterozygous tall)
7) true. For example: by a cross between pure tall (TT) and pure dwarf (tt ) plant we get heterozygous tall (Tt).
