HPV Vaccines

• A Vaccine helps our body's immune system through providing acquired immunity to a particular infectious disease.
• HPV vaccines are vaccines that protect us from the diseases caused by Human Papilloma Virus(HPV).
• Human papiloma virus is a small DNA virus which do not have an envelope.This virus mainly infect our skin and mucosal cells.It is the causative organism of many sexually transmitted diseases.
• Diseases like Aanal dysplasia, anongenital warts,Genital cancers ,Focal epithelial hyperplasia etc are caused by different types of HPV.
• HPV may present on the fingers,mouth, and genitals of a person so it can be spread during sexual activity,and also through touching.
• Here,HPV vaccine can protect our body from the future infection of this virus.
• There are three types of HPV vaccines that are globally available those are,Gardasil 9,Gardasil9 TM,Cervarix.
• The HPV vaccine is made from the protein which is present on the surface of the virus.The protein is extracted and grown in lab in yeast cells(S.cerevisiae) using recombinant technology.After the growth of the protein,it purifies and it assembles to look like the HPV.The developed HPV virus does not contain the HPV genetic material and so it can not multiply and cause infection.
• The vaccine usually consist of surface protein from nine different types of HPV.
• When a vaccine is injected into our body against any viral infection,it will stimulate our body to produce antibody against the virus.Here also,HPV vaccine stimulate our immune system to produce antibodies that in future resist with the HPV,combine with the virus and prevent it from attacking the cells of our body.
• HPV vaccine Gardasil stimulate the immune system to fight against the infection of HPV types 6,11,16,and 18.when we take the dose of Gardasil,our body's immune system will recognize the viral proteins in the vaccine as antigens or foreign bodies and they will produce antibodies to resist them and it provides immune power from future infection.
• The vaccine is recommended for girls and boys between the age group 9-12 .once a person is infected with HPV ,the vaccine might not be work at all but it can protect the person from future infection by different strain of HPV .
