In the year 2015, leaders from 193 countries of the world gathered and moderated by the United Nation and finally summarized that there are 17 goals for the world to be achieved in 2030 named as UNDP Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) towards 2030.
THIS IS THE LINK FOR 17 GOAL.

Five Goals that are important and in line with Engineering Profession as per UNDP Sustainable goals towards 2030 are:
1) CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION
- Water serves as the important necessity of human life, water is used in many forms like bathing, drinking, toilets, gardening, cooking, industries and many other vital needs. So it is our duty to supply and maintain good water quality for consumption and proper disposal of sewage and sullage generated towards proper treatment.
- Engineers needs to take due care so that supply water doesn't get contaminated from sewage mains.
- Separate pipeline Storm water and Sewage water should be provided as the Storm water which is relatively of good quality as compared to sewage doesn't get mix and increase the load on treatment plants
2 ) AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY
- As the energy consumption is increasing day by day engineers should always promote newer and better energy efficient technologies.
- Use of LED bulbs should be encouraged by engineers as it saves enormous energy and has large life span.
- Use of solar rooftop panels should be done for clean and green energy in households.
3 ) SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
- Sustainable cities is the need of the hour, better town planning and better transportation are some of the key factors.
- Town planning engineers should take into account the basic amenities required by household and should try to provide amenities close to household.
- Availability of Transportation in close radius to household promotes use of public transportation.
4 ) CLIMATE ACTION
- Some of the major reasons of Climate change are greenhouse effect and Ozone layer depletion.
- Use of alternative of CFC like HCFC, HFC and HFO reduces Ozone layer depletion.
- Use of Hybrid technology Cars using Batteries to save petrol and Diesel.
5 ) RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
- There is a huge difference in consumption pattern in some parts of country it varies drastically in developed and developing nations and there is huge shortage of lands for dumping waste.
- There is a technique of 3 R that is Reuse, reduce and recycle. Similarly food should be used in only required quantity and left over food should be recycled using organic treatments of composting by bacteria and can be later used as manure in gardening.
- Segregation of waste as per biodegradable and non biodegradable at the household should be done for easily recycling biodegradable waste.
