What is the integrated solid waste management hierarchy, define each components in order priority.
solution is posted below.
hope it helps.
integrated solid waste management hierarchy is as follows:
1: reduction: reduction means reducing the waste generation at its source. for example to pack aproduct one company uses number of polythene covering which later combines and produce a lot of waste. if we will keep in check the waste production capacity then a lot of waste can be reduced even before entering the product cycle.
it consist of prevention and reduction of waste generation. it decrease energy and material used in source of production.
2:reuse: it means giving the object second life or say use before it becomes a waste. hence using durable and reusable items is preffered, reusable iems need not to be collected which in turn reduce the solid waste.
for example plastic bottles before throwing off in dustbin can be used to plant small flowers etc,or bring into any of its use to.
3:recycling: this means using the material or product in the same use it was originally used for or any of other purposes. composting falls in category of recycling. when recycling is done it closes the loop for solid waste as there is no requirement for solid waste to get further it is collected and is send to the source or anywhere where it can be used at source.
4:recovery: it consist of incinerating the solid waste is burnt to produce energy which in turn reduse the load of municipal solid waste. potentially harmful material should not be burned without proper regulations.
5:disposal : it consist of disposing of waste by landfilling, incenreating.pyrolosis etc.
