As 3HS has been investigating updating its HIT system, one of the vendors has touted his product’s commitment to the HL7 FHIR standard. The procurement task force has asked is 3HS should move to that standard. Explain what you will advise: who is HL7 and what is the standard known as version 2, version 3, CDA and FHIR.
Answer: HL7 version 2, version 3, CDA and FHIR are the standards usee in the exchange of the health data. There standards are formed by the Health Level 7 which is an international group.
The HL7 version 2 standard is used to exchange the data between the system as well as clinical data. The standards are followed for the health data exchange process or messaging. It has the major advantage that it supports various data interfaceinterface and decreases the cost of implementation.
The HL7 version 3 specifically provides the exchange of the health messages, terminologies as well as messages. It includes standards for messaging all kinds of datas. It is useful in the case of building domain, RIM, interaction designs etc.
Clinical Document Architecture is the part of the version 3, which enables to exchange health data between system and those involved in patient care.
