Answer- Mental illness is a major issue today. According to researchers, there are nearly four hundred psychological disorders. Some of them include bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, phobia, depression, anxiety, addictive disorders etc. Some psychological disorders can be treated by medication while some require psychotherapy and social welfare support. Psychiatrists play an important role in treating mental disorders. A psychiatrist is a doctor who specializes in mental health. Psychiatrists are qualified to treat both the mental and physical aspects of psychological problems.

A psychiatrist has a full range of medical laboratory and psychological tests which help to provide a picture of patient's mental and physical state. He uses numerous methods of treatment such as various forms of psychotherapy, medications, psychosocial interventions, electroconvulsive therapy depending on the requirements of the patients.
