Expert Solution

1. Why does the link layer add the flag information in framing?

Answer:

Out of the different layers, framing is done in the data link layer. In the process of framing, headers and trailers are added to the original data. Header lies ahead of the data frame and trailer lies at the end.

The main disadvantage of framing is to find the start and end of the frame. As the frame is divided into many chunks, it is necessary to know the start and end postion.

Flags are added to the start and end of the frame to find out the starting position and the ending position of the entire frame. With this, the problem of marking the start and end of the frame can be cleared.

2. How is a software defined radio different from the modern wireless communications?

Answer:

Radio uses signal waves for transmission of messages. Whereas, modern wireless systems use voiceless comminications with point to point transmission.
