a. In building demolition, workers encountered asbestos. Asbestos cause serious health problems. One of the common type of asbestos related disease is pleural mesothelioma. It is a cancer which develops in the cells that form the outer lining of the lungs and inner lining of chest cavities. After a person enhales asbestos dust, it took decades for asbestos to cause pleural mesothelioma. Asbestos fibres causes irritation, chronic inflammation and genetic changes that turns the cells cancerous.

b. Noise and vibration of an excavator cause negative effects on the health of workers. Noise affect the hearing organs and physiological functions of the body, such as heart rate, blood pressure and respiratory rate. Exposure to vibrations can lead to the permanent injury of the hands and arms because the vibrations are transferred from the tools to hands. It also cause problem to workers like numbness of the fingers and reduced grip strength.
