Solutions

Expert Solution

Null Hypothesis (H0): p = 0.5

Alternative Hypothesis (Ha): p > 0.5

Steps to run a one sample proportion test in Minitab:

  1. Click Stat → Basic Statistics → 1 Proportion.
  2. A new window named “One-SampleProportion” appears.
  3. Click on the drop-down menu and choose “Summarized data.”
  4. Enter “504” in the box of “Number of events.”
  5. Enter “825” in the box of “Number of trials.”
  6. Check the box “Perform hypothesis test.”
  7. Enter “0.5” as the “Hypothesized proportion.”

8. Click “OK.”

9.The one sample proportion test results appear in the session window.

P-value < 0.05 we reject the null hypothesis, We conclude at 0.05 level that we have enough evidence to support the claim that most medical malpractice lawsuits are dropped or dismissed.

Hope this will be helpful. Thanks and God Bless You :)
