What do you think are the top 3 future challenges for big data (BD) analytics?
• Defend your choices , and provide citations
• Find 3 examples of failed BD projects
• Identify reasons for failure
• Prepare to share in class
——>Top 3 future challenges are:-
1) The challenge of volume:-
For defending choice——>Data is exploding and companies are under stress as they face space crunch to store data for accurate analysis. Growth of unstructured data is aggravating the situation further. In such a case management of data is of utmost importance.Usage of cloud storage or servers might fall short to store such a large amount of data.

2) Generating periodical insights :-
For defending choice——>The data stored needs to provide some analysis and conclusions.Usage of such a large amount of data needs some analysis and generations of some conclusions as well. For fulfilling this purpose there is a requirement of generation of models/systems for doing this task in the most efficient manner with least amount of errors.

3) Data security and privacy:-
For defending choice——>Amid the constant threat of cybercrimes, data security and privacy should be of paramount importance to enterprises. Incidents like the recent Equifax data breach or the Cambridge Analytica scandal are lessons about what can happen if a company adopts a ham-fisted approach to handle data. Therefore handling of data in the most secured manner and protecting the privacy of such a large crowd is important.

——>Failed BD projects:-
1) Airline-The company which had thrown itself into a range of Big Data projects with great enthusiasm - cataloguing and collecting information on everything from meal preferences to the impact delays would have on drinks orders.
Reason-The business objective was not clear and specified.Focussed on many goals at once.Thereby not providing the complete focus and energy to one goal.
2)UK National Health Service-National Programme for IT got botched down.
Reason-It was due to management failure. The plan to bring all patient medical records into a central database was described as the “biggest IT failure ever seen” and was scrapped after more than £10 billion ($14.9 billion) had been spent.
3)Space Shuttle Challenger by NASA.
Reason-Poor communication. The analysts at NASA were dealing with very large amounts of information for the time – monitoring sensors equipped throughout the shuttle. Their reports to the higher-ups at mission control went into a great amount of detail and included information that would have shown the significant risks of the shuttle breaking up – if the mission controllers had been able to spot it among the superfluous data.
