The system of having a two-party system can be easy to creates and manage an environment which forms it easy for voters to select on a party at the time of elections, which comes with a little downfalls.
A system of two-party is a breeding ground for division, deadlock, corruption and confusion. Every party continue looking for holding office and political gain which often times comes with a huge pressure. The competitive attribute and required to be right often times is the reason of more delay within thi type of system. Corruption among the parties also create many issues which sometimes contribute to the other intrusions and delays in the system.
Third parties generally gets fared no better in presidential elections. There is no candidate of third-party which has ever won the presidency. As voters don't like to waste their votes,so third parties should convince their voters that they have a real possibility of winning the races before the voters shall take them seriously.
