1. How has CVS handled its ethical challenges?
2. Evaluate CVS's decision to no longer sell tobacco products.
3. What is the future of CVS in positioning itself as a healthcare compay based on its decision to be socially responsible?
Running a pharmaceutical company is filled with ethical challenges. The reason behind this is that the substances which are used in the medicines are highly controlled. If the substance is little high in quantity then it may turn into poison or if it is lower in quantity then the drugs may not be effective. This is why the regulation of such drugs is very important. It is considered a very difficult task, especially for companies specially for CVS which operates at such a large level. The company has HIPPA charges in 2009 because of it was disposing the prescription bottles poorly. Again it has charge of descriptive business practices as it was giving commission to some doctors who were prescribing the company manufactured medicines. In above cases the company shoes their contribution with the law. Being a large company they were co-operating with the prosecutions and investigation. The company was not denying the law procedures. They were not hiding any clue and loopholes and they were paying all the fines imposed on the company.
