Water heater
In a water heater, tap water with the temperature 10
degrees celcius is heated to 60 degrees celcius. For a shower, a
total of 20 litres of water is used. Water from the water heater is
mixed with tap water to reach the temperature 35 degrees celcius
when one showers.
How much ENERGY is needed to heat 10 litres of water
from 10 celcius to 60 celcius?
How much EXERGY is needed to heat 10 litres of water...
A sample of metal with a mass of 350 g is heated to 100 degrees
celcius and dropped into 400 g of water at 21.4 degrees celcius.
The temp of the water rises to 28.0 celcius. Assume no heat is lost
to the environment.
What is the amount of heat gained?
What is the specific heat of the metal?
At 80 degrees celcius ,15g of KCl and KCLO3 will dissolve in
100g of water. suppose yo mad e a solution containing 15g of KCl
and 15g of KCLO3 in 100g of water and heated it to 80 degrees
celcius. If you slowly cooled this solution to 0 degree celc`ius,
explain what would happen.
1a) The system is at 25 degrees Celsius and the surroundings are
at degrees Celcius. The system is a closed system.
a) thermal energy will flow from system to surrounding
b) thermal energy will flow from surrounding to system
c) there will be no net flow of thermal energy
1b) The system is at 25 degrees Celsius and the surroundings are
at 0 degrees Celcius. The system is an isolated system

A tank contains 220 L of pure water. Solution that contains 0.08
kg of sugar per liter enters the tank at the rate 8 L/min, and is
thoroughly mixed into it. The new solution drains out of the tank
at the same rate.
(a) How much sugar is in the tank at the begining? y(0)=___ kg
(b) Find the amount of sugar after t minutes. y(t)=___ kg
(c) As t becomes large, what value is y(t) approaching ? In
other...
When 5.00 grams of sodium hydroxide dissolves in 100. grams of
water the temperature rises from 25.0 oC to 38.0 oC. Is this
reaction endothermic or exothermic? EXPLAIN. Calculate the value of
∆H (kJ/mol) and its sign. Draw an enthalpy graph and clearly label
all parts.
A container of water has 400 mL of water at 90 degrees C. You
add 100 grams of ice at -20 degrees C. What is the final
temperature of the mixture?
