Calculate the mass percent of a NaCl solution in which 141 g of NaCl is dissolved in 4.00 L of water at 25 ∘C (density = 0.997 g/mL).
Express your answer numerically.
Mass percentage of NaCl in the solution is 3.60%.
The given data is
Mass of NaCl =149g
Water =4.0L
d =0.997 g/mL
So first we have to convert water in grams. In the given example it is in Litre.
Density is in g/ml
So convert 4 L to ml and is =4000ml.
Now needs to convert 4000ml to gram
By formula
Density = mass /Volume
Mass =density x Volume
Mass (g) =4000x0.997
= 3988 g.
Now we will calculate mass percentage of NaCl
Mass percentage= mass of solute/mass of solution
(Mass of solution is solute +solvent
That means NaCl +water)
Please find the calculation details in attached file.
Hope you clear the concept.
