To what extent should the educational system prepare people for the job force versus preparing them to think critically? Which is more important in your view, and why? Connect your points to a recent news article or event.
Ans.
In the traditional education system, the focus has been more toward
learning by giving straight forward answers to questions and
students get the grades by remembering what they have learned . Its
more memory based learning and performance in the exams that gets
them a job.
In today’s times the critically thinking is more important because
it teaches students not what to think but how to think. Today’s
fast changing , technology driven environment and complex ways of
doing businesses require business leaders to think outside the box,
and innovative solutions to compled problems. Teaching critical
thinking is harder because it forces students to think deeper and
multi dimensional way but it should be encouraged to shape the
young and bright minds be ready for the new age challenges.
Critical thinking helps students to build curiosity, improve
problem solving skills and be innovative.
Helen Lee, who is the founder of Reboot Foundation in an article
argued that she believes that a lack of critical thinking is
responsible for many business failures. And in todays times
critical thinking is very important specially for the senior
leaders in the organisaiton to help to lead the organizations in
successful way.
