The process of receiving goods generally possess three primary steps based on which the goods are accepted and they are:

1. Inspection - this is the very first step where the goods are matched with the requirements with the client and also specified in the bill of laden as well. There should be a proper purchase order along with that a checklist needs to be used in order to ensure that the quantity, specifications are matching or else it can be rejected. The bill of laden needs to be copied and preserved for future use.

2. Identification and Tagging the received order - once the items are received, it needs to be tagged with a certain label and barckded as well which provides the details like the item number and quantity.

3. Logging in the items received - the items received needs to be logged in with the proper date and time in the receiving log with the receipt of each delivery that will ensure that the details of the order received along with the shipment details are maintained as well.
