Before attempting to answer the purpose of visual aid, it is important to know the term visual aid.So I would like to start with explaining waht exactly we mean by visual aid.

Visual aid means institutional devices such as charts, maps or models that appeals chiefly to vision.To put in a different way, A visual aid supplements words with pictures, charts, graphs or other visual information.

The primary purpose of visual aids is to enhance the quality of the Message to be disseminated to the audience. They are important because they help the audience understand and remember, increase audience interest, and act as notes or reminders for the speaker.

Visual Aids are critical both to the national and international audience because, it is the only source which will help in creating better communication platform between the speaker and audience. The quality of messages or communication is improved by use of visual aids.

We can keep the audience engaged by:

  • Describing a scene or character
  • Telling a story
  • Sharing personal experiences
  • Referring or relating to most recent events
  • By showing compelling visual image
