As depicted in the applet, Albertine finds herself in a very odd contraption. She sits in a reclining chair, in front of a large, compressed spring. The spring is compressed 5.00 m from its equilibrium position, and a glass sits 19.8m from her outstretched foot.

a)Assuming that Albertine's mass is 60.0kg , what is ?k, the coefficient of kinetic friction between the chair and the waxed floor? Use g = 9.80m/s2 for the magnitude of the acceleration due to gravity. Assume that the value of k found in Part A has three significant figures.

Note that if you did not assume that k has three significant figures, it would be impossible to get three significant figures for ?k, since the length scale along the bottom of the applet does not allow you to measure distances to that accuracy with different values of k.

After a weekend of lucrative gigs, a singer finds herself with an extra $ 1,500. She currently has $4350 of credit card debt, on which she is charged an annual yield of 24%. Putting $1,500 toward this would cut that debt to $1,850. Calculate the annual rate of return if she does this. Round, if necessary, to the nearest 0.1%.

An astronaut wants to determine the mass of objects she finds in space. On Earth she chooses a spring and attaches a rock to it that weighs 20 N. After placing the rock on a horizontal table, and attaching the spring horizontally to a fixed point, she stretches the rock 2 cm from equilibrium, in the positive direction. She then releases it from rest. After 30 s has passed, she finds that the rock has gone through 10 cycles and...
