a) Area source: sources that emit less than 10 tons per year of a single toxic pollutants into the air, or less than 25 tons per year of a combination of air toxics.
b) Major source: sources that emit 10 tons per year of a single toxic pollutants into the air, or 25 tons per year of a combination of air toxics.
c) New source: stationary source, the construction or modification of which is commenced after the publication of regulations prescribing a standard of performance under this section which will be applicable to such source.
2) Emission factors: Emission factor is a representative value that attempts to relate the quantity of a pollutant released to te atmosphere with an activity associated with the release of that pollutant.
3)Non-attainment area: It is an area considered to have air quality worse than the National Ambient Air Quality Standards(NAAQS)
4)
a) Affected sources: These are the sources that includes one or more affected units that subject to emission reduction requirements or limitations
b) Allowance: It is an authorisation, allocated to an affected uinit by the administrator to emit, during or after a specified calender year, one ton of sulfur dioxide.
c) baseline: It means the annual quantity of
fossil fuel consumed by an affected unit, measured in
"mmBtu"s
5)
Class I substances: substances having an Ozone depletion potential of 0.2 or higher. Examples are chlorofluorocarbon(CFC), methyl chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, methyl bromide, halons
Class II substances: substances having an Ozone depletion potential less than 0.2. Examples are Hydrochlorofluorocarbons(HCFC).
