Some things to consider include: placement of graphics, placement of text, size and position of text blocks to graphics, colors used, and design principles.

for a good webpage we have to work on following 3 principles which is given below

1. Visual design (how pretty a webpage looks)
2. Usability (ease of use)
3. Objectives (what are our target)

more than 50% of webpage visitor thinks webpage design as a number one factor to decide crediabilty of a business.its all about first impression so the webpage design should not be annoying,Good website design leave a good impression with visitors.

Visual design mistakes which are not good for a webpage->

• flash - google and firefox disabled flash player due to security flaw which means you good design website no longer looks good anywhere
• Background Music - putting background music is not a good idea it should be put only for particular events
• Too many colors and fonts - when its time to chose fonts and color for webpage one should be consistent and do not chose more than 3-4 colors/fonts.colors and fonts should be eye catchy in order to build a good webpage.
• Long paragraph of text - visitor don't have much time to reading long paragraph so what our webpage try to serve to visitor it should short and clear
• Image quality- low quality of image make a webpage completly cheap and amature

Visual design principles that delight visitors:

• white space- proper space between section,image,heading,text etc help a lot to looks a website impressive
• Less is more- try not to use more than 3-4 fonts and colors
• consistent design - this apply everywhere such as space, color, and fonts.Ensure you pick one theme througout your webpage
• High quality image- always use high quality image
