9. What are 2 important influences on enzymatic activity? What happens when these factors are significantly altered? Provide 2 examples of enzymes and the pH of the environment in which it works. Describe the effect of temperature on enzyme function.
Please type the answer. Thanks
The two important aspect that influence the enzymatic activity are: pH and temperature. Every enzyme have its optimal pH and optimal temperature at which they shows maximum activity.
With altering any of the optimal state the enzyme activity is also getting charged:
Effect of pH- with increasing or decreasing of the optimal pH of an enzyme will decrease the enzymatic activity by distorting enzyme structure.
Effects of temperature- with decreasing temperature the enzymatic activity also gets decrease, but with increasing temperature the enzymatic activity also getting increase very rapidly. But upto a certain extent as with higher temperature enzyme may get denatured.
Example of two enzyme and the pH of the environment in which they work are:
Lipase (pancreas) - optimal pH is 8. Pepsin - optimal pH 1.5 - 1.6.
The effect of temperature on enzyme function is with increasing temperature the rate of reaction increase gradually (as molecule gets thermal energy) upto a certain extent. After that with increasing temperature may leads to denatured if the enzyme and terminate the enzymatic activity.
With decreasing temperature of the reaction the enzyme activity also slows down gradually.
