Other than the requirement of having some connection with marketing and/or marketing concepts,
PlayStation 4 has a number of advantages from the competition in the market. Firstly, it has the advantage of having a complete entertainment system which includes video games, subscription services such as Netflix, and the ability to interact with your friends In a connected environment. It is reasonably priced, based on the amount of hardware it packs and boasts a number of exclusive games which are only available through the PlayStation network.
When compared with a PC, ps4 has a tough competition due to the nature of a PC to be able to be upgraded with time, other than that fact, PS4 fares reasonably well when compared with a PC at the same time, Ps4 is more optimized for gaming than a PC. But the PC has an advantage that it can be used for a lot more purposes than a PlayStation.
I would buy a PlayStation for a specific purpose of having the portability, selection of exclusive games as well as its playability. Sony actively markets the PlayStation as being a complete entertainment system which is optimized for gaming at a cheaper price than a Playstation, the factor that Sony emphasizes is the ability of the PlayStation to be used to connect with your friends so everybody can play games together. There are also marketing factors such as exclusive models, a VR system that works with a number of games already on the PlayStation network as well as their long heritage of providing quality service and gaming interactive services for their consumers.
