If the solution was not continuously stirred while performing the freezing point determination, what effect might that have on the experimental results? Briefly explain.
freezing point is the particular temperature at which the liquid solvent start melting. when some solute mixed with the solvent and made into a solution, then freezing point of the solution decreased or lowered. This is due to the change in vapour pressure.
again the depression in freezing point is a colligative property i.e., depression of freezing point depends on the number of moles of the solute added.
In this case if the solution was not continuously stirred while performing the experiment then the number of moles of solute added is not be dissolved properly. Incomplete dissolution of the solute will give inappropriate value of freezing point depression. As freezing point depression depends on the number of moles of solute , and in this case we have less number of solute dissolved due to inappropriate dissolution, thus the freezing point depression will be less compared to the actual value of depression.
