During Avignon papacy time period people of rome started to get settled in France. This avignon papacy is also known as babylonian captivity of church since people of rome where there for about 70years.This 70years time period is equal to the length of babylonian capacity of jews in bible. The reason for the migration is that clement V ( pope) refused stay in rome so he remained to stay in france by moving his court to Avignon where they remained for about 67years in the absence of rome.
Great Schism is caused due to splitting the Rome into 2 empire such as western empire and eastern empire.It did not happened suddenly but it took place gradually for many years. Babylonian captivity affect the church by dividing it into western and eastern church.
