Exploiting Shale gas in the Karoo: Good or Bad?   In your opinion, should South Africa exploit the shale gas reserves in the Karoo. Consider the environmental impacts vs the economic benefits of such an exploitation. (Write no more than 250 words).

This is very popular question & topic for debate .whenever there is subject which have two sides good & bad it becomes topic for dbeate .There two sides of exploiting shale gas in karoo.

Exploiting Shale gas in the karoo will result in bad impact on environment .Shale gas extraction can be good economy of africa as it is potential source of energy .But It will leave large irreparable effects on environment .& it can also adversely affect human health .Exploiting of shale gas can result chemical pollution as there is not certainty about collecting gas without damaginf surface resources .Chemical pollution is quite hazardous source & type of pollution it will pollute soil ,air & water resources which will directly impact biological life .

there is debate between groups on this topic because of this two major impacts .One it can solve economy problems of africa On other hand it can be harmful to landscape & peoples of africa .

According to me I will suggest not to exploit shale gas unless & until certainty of technology that we can collect it without major damage to environment .Because if with great economy you can not have good life then economy is not of any use .

This source of energy can burn cleaner than coal .But to avail this energy source we should have some advance technologies by hand with certainity & Estimates about source .
