Refer to the accompanying data set and construct a 90% confidence interval estimate of the mean pulse rate of adult females; then do the same for adult males. Compare the results.

A.Construct a 90% confidence interval of the mean pulse rate for adult females.
___bpm<μ<___ bpm?
round one decimal place
B.Construct a 90% confidence interval of the mean pulse rate for adult males.
_____bpm<μ<_____bpm?
C.
A.The confidence intervals do not overlap, so it appears that adult females have a significantly higher mean pulse rate than adult males.
B.The confidence intervals do not overlap, so it appears that there is no significant difference in mean pulse rates between adult females and adult males.
C.The confidence intervals overlap, so it appears that there is no significant difference in mean pulse rates between adult females and adult males.
D.The confidence intervals overlap, so it appears that adult males have a significantly higher mean pulse rate than adult females.
We can find the 95% confidence interval for mean using TI-84 calculator .
First enter the male data set into the L1 list of the the TI-84 , Press STAT key ---> 1:Edit and hit enter.
Then press STAT ---> scroll to TESTS ---> Select T interval and hit enter. ( Because population standard deviation σ is not known and instead of we can find sample standard deviation s , so we have to use T interval )
Then scroll to data and hit enter ,
For List enter L1 ( to appear L1 press 2ND and then 1 )
Then directly scroll to C-level
We are given 90% confidence level ,so plug C-Level = 0.9 ,
Then scroll to calculate and hit enter.
B) Therefore 90% confidence interval of the mean pulse rate for adult males is 63.9 bpm < µ < 70.4
Similar way enter the female data set into the L1 list and follow the same steps again , find the required confidence interval .
A) Therefore 90% confidence interval of the mean pulse rate for adult females is 72.3 bpm < µ < 79.7
C) A.The confidence intervals do not overlap, so it appears that adult females have a significantly higher mean pulse rate than adult males.
