Solutions

Expert Solution

Reactions

Acetyl chloride

Gives no reaction with Hexane, toluene, cyclohexane, 1-chlorobutane, t-pentyl chloride, chlorobenzene

with 1-butanol.,

CH3-CH2-CH2-CH2-OH + CH3-CO-Cl ---> CH3-CH2-CH2-CH2-O-CO-CH3 + HCl

with 2-butanol,

CH3-CH2-CH(OH)-CH3 + CH3-CO-Cl ---> CH3-CH2-CH(OCOCH3)-CH3

t-pentyl alcohol

CH3-CH2-C(CH3)2OH + CH3-CO-Cl ---> CH3-CH2-C(CH3)2O-COCH3

Lucas test

Used to identify type of alcohol.

Does not react with primary 1-butanol. Secondary and tertiary alcohol gives turbidity due to the formation of chloroalkane.

with 2-butanol,

CH3-CH2-CH(OH)-CH3 + HCl --> CH3-CH2-CH(Cl)-CH3 + H2O

with t-pentyl alcohol

CH3-CH2-C(CH3)2OH + HCl ---> CH3-CH2-C(CH3)2Cl + H2O

Chromic acid test

Again used to identify type of alcohol.

With toluene

C6H5-CH3 + H2CrO4 ---> C6H5COOH

with 1-butanol

CH3-CH2-CH2-CH2-OH ---> CH3-CH2-CH2-COOH

with 2-butanol

CH3-CH2-CH(OH)-CH3 ---> CH3-CH2-CO-CH3

t-pentyl alcohol no reaction

PLEASE SHOW ALL WORK step by step and very clear!! The Joe K Company is examining purchasing a new piece of equipment and has hired you to evaluate the project. The old system is currently two years old and had an original production life of six years. It had cost $9,600,000 and had been depreciated with 100% bonus depreciation. Joe estimated that it could be sold for $1,300,000 at the end of its production life and this is still true....

Please do step by step clear and show eqations used. Thank you A rocket designed to place satellites into orbit is carried to a cruising altitude. When the plane is flying in a straight line and at a constant speed of 850 km/h, the rocket is dropped. After the drop the plane continues to fly at the same pseed and in a straight line. The rocket falls for a bried time, and then its propulsion starts. Once the propulsion starts...
