For products such as home appliances, toys, garments, and consumer electronics, what factors would influence selecting an onshore, near-shore, or offshore supplier?
While selecting the type of supplier required companies will consider various factors such as their requirements for the product, distance required, time available , type of the product etc., Products such as appliancer and electronics might have parts that are to be obtained from other countries and hence off shore suppliers can be selected. Likewise toys, garments also can have a requirement of products or cloth from other countries and these situations will need an off shore supplier. When the product required is local and the need is frequent and must be easily accessable then onshore suppliers are chosen. Some material might be required on regualr basis for appliances or garment or toys or electronics and such suppliers are chosen nearby. Near shore suppliers serve both the needs of providing material that is not available in the country and will also deliver faster than offshore suppliers.
